Managed and delivered initiatives to promote sustainable inbound and domestic tourism sector development, increase international recognition of Moldova as a tourism destination, build economic resilience, strengthen institutional capacities of key stakeholders, including Governmental institutions and private associations, and foster cross-sector synergies with wine, high-value agriculture, creative industries, and the business-enabling environment. In addition to programmatic and team leadership, I provided day-to-day input on tourism-related technical and operational matters, including grants and subcontractor management, procurement, construction works. I also led the preparation of high-impact donor reports, scene setters, and communication briefs, ensuring strong alignment between strategic objectives, project results, and public messaging.

Aug. 2023 - May. 2024Chișinău, MoldovaAs Project Manager for a $1.4M UNDP-led initiative supporting Moldova’s agri-producers during overlapping climate, socio-economic, and energy crises, I worked on implementation of an integrated capacity building and grant programs targeting over 1,500 rural beneficiaries—primarily women-led agricultural MSMEs. I oversaw all aspects of project implementation in line with UNDP rules and donor requirements, including financial oversight, procurement, quality assurance, risk mitigation, and high-level stakeholder coordination. I also led a $400K component under the Japanese-funded Multidimensional Response to Human Security Challenges, focusing on energy resilience for women in agriculture.

Jul. 2021 - Feb. 2023Chișinău, MoldovaLed the Moldova Competitiveness Transition Activity (MCTA), a USAID EDGE Buy-in activity fostering economic recovery and post-pandemic support for the tourism and light industry (apparel, footwear, and fashion accessories) sectors. Managed all aspects of project implementation, day-to-day operations, communications, and visibility efforts. Maintained coordination and partnerships with key sectorial stakeholders, including governmental institutions. With a $2.8 million budget, MCTA offered technical assistance, capacity building, and grants to key sectoral institutions, as well as MSMEs in tourism. MCTA supported the National Inbound Tourism Association of Moldova in its efforts to strategically position Moldova's tourism sector as an authentic global destination. Partnerships with the Ministry of Culture and Invest Moldova have been implemented, encompassing an extensive list of joint activities aiming to keep Moldova on the global tourism map, spur domestic travel, and move the sector towards sustainable development. Through the tourism MSMEs In-kind grants program, ~40 rural guesthouses upgraded to diversify services, adapting to pandemic-induced traveler shifts. Amid challenges like the Ukraine war and its aftermath—halted inbound tourism, refugee influx, inflation, energy crisis—grant support extended to build sector’s resilience to various disturbances, though green energy solutions, infrastructure upgrade, immersive and adventure product development, to boost domestic tourism and to enhance sector’s sustainability. MCTA also assisted flagship light industry entities: Moldovan Light Industry Producers Association and ZIPHOUSE Fashion Hub. MCTA’s initiatives focused on post-pandemic recovery via exports overhaul, digital integration, industry events, and strategies for sustainability and revival.

Oct. 2015 - Dec. 2019Chisinau, MoldovaLed the efforts within the Moldova Competitiveness Project (MCP) to support business innovation, technological advancement, competitiveness enhancement and export orientation in apparel and footwear industry, through workforce development, improving efficiency and marketing strategy. MCP is funded by USAID, Government of Sweden and UK Aid. ▪(Co-)Developed fashion industry strategic positioning, the roadmap and exports tactics with industry key stakeholders, fostering innovative development, with the objective to transform the industry into high added-value production. ▪Fostered the capacity building of the Association of the Moldova Fashion Industry (APIUS) to serve as a trade development facilitator for the industry. Directly involved in expanding market linkages for the industry, supported consolidation of the Moldovan fashion industry umbrella brand (DININIMA = from the heart) on the domestic market, helped develop Moldova Fashion Days as the leading professional industry biannual event and coordinated B2B and B2C international trade efforts. ▪Led development of the ZIPhouse Design and Technology Excellence Center, having established it in 2015 as a public-private partnership between MCP, APIUS, and the Technical University of Moldova (TUM). Provided expertise and technical assistance in the development and establishment of the creative industries center ARTCOR (in 2019) as a PPP between MCP, COR (creative industries association of Moldova) and Academy of Arts, positioning both centers as flagship institutions and hubs for creative collaboration, startup acceleration and workforce development. ▪In charge of grant management for the main MCP beneficiaries: APIUS, the Technical University of Moldova (TUM), ZIPhouse and ARTCOR. ▪Coordinated partnerships, capacity building for sustainable development and resource mobilization efforts for the industries under responsibility, and facilitated close engagement across the stakeholders.
