Success was contingent on meeting board-approved financial targets, while maintaining brand identity and personally fitting into the very special corporate culture. ★ Collaborated closely with the CFO to control the $1.7B labor budget and identify cost-reduction opportunities on a regular basis, including through the development of an industry-first real-time store staffing system based on rate-of-sale algorithms. ★ Assisted the stores team - guardians of the company's image and the front line of retail success - in achieving its objectives by ensuring flawless operational efficiency and the timely delivery of individual store-staffing authorizations. ★ Jump-started a nascent ecommerce business at the beginning of what would become an industry-wide boom, building an internal team and selectively using outside consultants to merge opportunity with the need for image control and consistency, quickly building ancillary but critical functionality in social media, and providing web analytics to ensure strong payback. ★ Parnered with corporate functions to develop >800-step desktop task-management early-warning system to ensure timely construction and opening of hundreds of new stores on three continents, including using U.S. ex-pat store leadership to ensure transplantation of the company's unique culture and brand image, and working tightly with tax, legal, and HR departments to obtain 100% compliance with requirements in dozens of countries. ⎯ ⎯ ⎯ ⎯ ⎯ ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE: ▶︎ Chairman & CEO, Centerplate
