As project director I was responsible for setting up the project and creating the business processing, audit proceedures and for shaping the overall project strategy within the confines of the EU funding. As project director I was also personally accountable for the disbursement of the £3.6 million SME grant funds and for implementing the European procurement regulations in order to ensure the utterly transparent use of public funds to achieve economic development. Whilst in post, I set about making this project a showcase for both the region and the UK as a whole, by implementing the project along private sector lines.
