Sep. 2018 - Apr. 2019Philippines-Worked to serve the mission of the United States Peace Corps, which is to help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women, to help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served, and to help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans. -Learned local and national customs and practices and Visayan dialect to facilitate immersion in Filipino culture and while embedded in local Palompon community. -Sole volunteer serving the Palompon, Leyte Eco-Tourism sites, including Kalanggaman Island, Liberty Eco-Adventure Outdoor Recreation Park, Tabuk Islet Nature Conservancy, Solid Waste Management EcoPark, Lantaw Palompon hiking and viewing deck, and others. -Worked with local government to build relationships with potential stakeholders in Ecotourism activities and support. -Assisted in the development of an ecotourism plan for the Local Government Unit of Palompon to generate more economic growth. -Conducted field visits, utilize observations and research to establish areas that are in need of enhancement and developed a new proposal to provide these enhancements and offer structured activities to guests, for the local EcoTourism Department to run community related events at sites. -Wrote articles, tourism site reviews, personal blog, and a proposed tourism website presentation to obtain more national recognition for local Palompon EcoTourism sites. -Designed and implemented tour guide training modules for ecotourism or related educational awareness programs. Helped train tour guides on EcoTourism department staff and other advocates on environmental issues. -Helped conduct workshops to strengthen environment protection and conservation. Also established a proposal for construction of new eco friendly amphitheater for a space to conduct these education programs. -Assembled enhancement of Eco Tour packages, promotions, and informative materials.
