Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities-SkopjeDirector and Senior Researcher/Professor
Jan. 2012Centar, Skopje Statistical Region, North MacedoniaThe Institute, a holder of the 2021-2027 Award of Erasmus Charter for Higher Education in Europe, is primarily dedicated to applied research in social sciences and humanities, committed to an ever deeper interdisciplinary integration with the STEM sciences. Applied social sciences and humanities amount to the ability to form and advocate for implementable policy vision of a society. We are committed to demonstrating that the dichotomy between theory and practice is a false one if the underpinning quality is scientific rigor and methodological consistency. We believe that political and social theory must be corroborated and justified by data as well as applicable. That is why political studies, social theory and theorizations in the humanities we undertake are always transformed into policy studies. Policy studies, on the other hand, most often serve as the point of departure for building new theories, its trajectory being: from the concrete toward the abstract. Practice and applicability justify theory, not the other way around. We pursue both research and graduate level education. We also act as a think tank, and engage in advocacy for specific policy solutions grounded in scientific analysis rather than a technocratic euro-talk. ISSHS is a non-profit organizaton.
