Led organization’s public policy and advocacy in Washington D.C., including supervising public policy and advocacy staff and budget in order to advance human rights as core component of US foreign policy. Directed US external government relations, and represented the organization within the highest levels of the USG (including Congress, State, and USAID) with a focus on US foreign policy including poverty-focused development, human rights, and humanitarian concerns. Collaborated with in-house technical units and experts to identify and create USG advocacy opportunities. Formulated organizational policy position statements in response to urgent humanitarian crises. Conducted research on US foreign policy and drafts related position papers, sign-on letters, and memoranda. Represented organization at public high-level events, including panels, conferences, and meetings. Represented organization among fellow NGOs, foundations, and coalitions in order to advance organization’s policy and advocacy positions.
