Tramp In DisguiseTextile Design/Studio Assistant
Oct. 2013 - Jan. 2014LondonMy experience at Tramp InDisguise was a hugely rewarding one. I started at the perfect time, at the beginning of designing a new collection. I was involved in the design process from start to finish. From creating initial drawings on illustrator and creating print designs through to pattern cutting, sourcing fabrics and helping choose models. Nothing was as exciting as seeing the finished collection and assisting at the photo shoot. I felt proud to have been a part of the design team and was very happy with the end result. One of the most memorable moments from the experience was being invited to assist at the fashion show in Zagreb for Croatia’s fashion week. The trip was very fast paced and the show was high pressure, requiring a calm, focussed and assured state of mind. I had also been given the responsibility of designing intricate hair accessories for the models using remaining metallic leather from the collection, thereby successfully linking the ‘Bed of Roses..’ collection theme . I enjoyed the challenge, which for the most part was paying close attention to the detail of design aesthetics, qualities of the fabric, and also how to budget and utilise the limited fabric and equipment provided - whilst also keeping to a tight deadline for the show. I thoroughly enjoyed the task and we worked well as a team. The euphoric feeling I felt after the success of the trip confirmed for me that this IS the career I want to pursue.
