Murphy OilSr. Operations Geologist, Deepwater Exploration
Dec. 2013 - Oct. 2015Houston, Texas Area-Managed and supported geologic operations for deepwater wells drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa by monitoring wellsite geologic data, integrating data into prospect models and managing mud logging operations -Presented and delivered daily well reports to well team, upper management and asset partners.
-Bid and contracted mudlogging teams and worked collaboratively to design formation-sampling programs
-Compiled and presented weekly geological risk analysis throughout the pre-drilling and drilling processes with the objective of avoiding operational hazards and reducing potential remediation costs upwards of $105M.
-Supervised site review, shallow hazard planning and government submission for exploration plans totaling 25+ well locations between ten offshore wells,
-Spearheaded and implemented geohazard data-mapping protocols after gaining project team buy-in to support more aggressive timelines for wells with budgets greater than $150M, creating an 80% efficiency of a typical four-week process and reducing up to 5% of the hazard evaluation budget per project. Protocols improved iterative cross-functional communication and well planning between Engineering and Geology Departments up to 50%.
-Designed, implemented, and managed Well Information Handbooks for deep-water drilling projects to align objectives and essential project information while drilling between the following key stakeholders: Geoscience, Engineering, Operations and Drilling, Regulatory, Management, contracted parties, asset partners
-Initiated cross-discipline well-portfolio strategy ensuring timely execution of 150 deliverables across 5 divisions.
