Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel and MarinaGroup Housing Coordinator
Feb. 2016 - Feb. 2017Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida AreaAs a Group Housing Coordinator for the largest hotel in Tampa, some of my every day job duties include coordinating room reservations, answering high volume of emails, working simultaneously with our Revenue department and Event Managers. I acquire a high level of hotel knowledge, events, promotions, room categories, rates and the surrounding market. I check availability, coordinate with sales, hotel departments and customers to ensure consistency, high level of service and implementing a smooth operation prior to the group’s arrival. While maintaining ownership of group blocks, I send daily pickup report numbers, work hand in hand with third party housing bureaus, special billing requests and proper treatment of group’s VIP guests. I work directly with clients as needed through emails, phone calls as well as in person meetings. I attend weekly meetings, such as Scrub Meeting and Sales Strategy, to ensure a flawless event for all clients whether their group has 10 rooms or 675 rooms. Some notable groups I have worked with: I was the Group Housing Coordinator for the host hotel for all Specials Guests/VIP for the 2017 National Football Championship (College Football Playoff). I have also worked with numerous sports team including the Denver Broncos when the Tampa Bay Bucs hosted them in October, 2016, hockey teams such as the Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Montreal Canadiens. With these sports groups, I also deal with national associations, corporate groups, military and/or government groups. I have worked the National Baptist Convention, Florida Music Educators, SOFIC, and IBM. Our hotel is a fast paced environment and I deal with a high volume of repetitive customer interactions. Also, I am responsible for data collection, inventory and reservation duties. I maintain regular communication between area reservations and the hotel recognizes opportunities to maximize group revenue by up selling and offering enhancements to group rooms.
