Feb. 2020 - Jul. 2024Southampton, England, United KingdomI co-founded Rogers EV Ltd to design, build, and commercialise the HaloDrive, a patented rim-driven, hollow-core electric propulsion system engineered specifically for next-generation aerospace applications. The system achieved over 1 kN thrust with a 27%+ efficiency gain, setting new benchmarks in torque delivery, thermal resilience, and mechanical simplicity. Key Achievements: • Raised $500K+ in funding to develop a 1m-diameter / 40 kW TRL6 prototype, fully tested in-house. • Filed and secured patent protection for the rim-driven propulsion architecture. • Designed and validated a core-less circumferential flux motor (CFM) architecture, solving long-standing bearing and air-gap challenges in large-diameter drives. • Partnered with Sabe Technology (Formula One CFD) and Motion Robotics Ltd to develop aerodynamic and electromechanical subsystems. • Achieved critical government grant support in 2022, enabling rapid iteration and test campaigns. • Built distributed supply/manufacturing pipelines across China and India to cut cost and lead time. • Delivered presentations at Siemens Simcenter and VFS Global, sharing insights on multiphysics simulation and electric propulsion integration. • Opened dialogue with Middle Eastern stakeholders to extend the technology into HVAC and adjacent sectors. The HaloDrive was designed to unlock efficiency, safety, and scalability for electrified aircraft ranging from UAVs and urban air mobility platforms to narrow-body commercial craft. While RogersEV ultimately stalled due to investor/shareholding disputes, I still work with this concept and it's IP and continue to advance its development independently.
