Serious BettyCo-Founder
Apr. 2018 - Dec. 2022Toronto, Canada AreaIn 2019, I founded the social enterprise media house, Serious Betty, with the goal of lessening gender, racial, and class barriers in Canadian music media. I wrote a monthly newsletter (30% open rate), created a blog and curated an event calendar (1000+ pageviews/month), produced in person and virtual events, and hosted a show on ISO Radio. Between 2019 and 2020, I ran a team of 10, and established partnerships with The Drake, MRG Concerts, NXNE, Pride Toronto, Covid Room (Italy-based), Universal Music Canada, Warner Music Group, and Myseum of Toronto, paid artists to perform at events, including a music show in collaboration with Paradise Theatres, and helped a group of young creatives produce BIPOC FEST, a virtual festival with an all Black, Indigenous, and POC line up. I applied for, wrote, and received grants and investor pitches. In 2020, I participated in WOSEN's 20-week Start Program that supports women* as they build their social entrepreneurial capacities.
