In this and my other travel contracts (see below), I effectively apply the nursing process in treating conditions including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, psychosis, PTSD, Alzheimer's, and substance use disorder, in additional to medical comorbidities. In this role and the positions below, I: » Admit patients and closely document medical, family, psychological, and physiological history. » Perform advanced psychiatric and medical assessments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop proactive treatment plans. » Receive patient transfers from Emergency Department and oversee transfers to external departments and facilities. » Serve as rotating Charge Nurse, ensuring streamlined unit operations while responding proactively to safety concerns and staffing shortages. » Oversee detoxification protocols including suboxone and Klonopin tapers. Perform ongoing observation of patients. » Perform bedside care procedures including wound care, pressure injury prevention, lab draws, vital signs monitoring, and oral/IV/SubQ medication administration. Thoroughly document care in EMR. » Proactively respond to crisis, maintaining patient and staff safety while initiating seclusion and/or restraint in emergency situations. » Ensure compliance with all regulations and legal requirements. » Provide education for patients and families, promote continuity of care outside the hospital setting, and serve as a health resource. » Communicate therapeutically, building patients’ trust while maintaining respectful, care-focused relationships.
