Carolinas Medical CenterRegistered Nurse
Nov. 2014 - Sep. 2017As a Clinical Nurse on 10A I developed a strong foundation of critical thinking, technical, and professional nursing skills that have allowed me to thrive in the adult acute care setting. Working on a high acuity unit with diverse patient populations has enhanced and developed skills such as: Time management, delegation, prioritization, communicating effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team and playing an active role as a team player. Thorough head-to-toe and focused assessments with subsequent detailed and accurate documentation of provided care via the electronic medical record. Regularly participating in discharge planning efforts with daily huddles between the unit Nurse Case Manager, Social Worker, Clinical Nurse Leaders, and Charge Nurse. Proficiency in utilizing multiple pieces of medical equipment to provide care, including home ventilators, tracheostomies, chest tubes, feeding tubes, IV pumps, wound vacs, and PCA pumps. Routinely utilizing evidence-based practice to guide patient care, particularly through medication administration and performance of daily nursing tasks to decrease incidence of hospital-acquired infections. Functioned in the role of Charge Nurse for day shifts, assuming responsibilities such as making patient assignments, monitoring for changes in patient conditions, and ensuring the unit runs efficiently per CHS standards and policy.
