Jul. 2004 - Nov. 2006Durham, NC•Counseled and advised approximately 1200 undergraduate and graduate (i.e. Master’s in Engineering Management: MEM) students interested in engineering, physical sciences and technology areas. •Directed volunteer peer advising group of 20 students called Career Advising Team (CATs) by training, mentoring, and advising about career topics. •Counseled students and alumni for more than 400 hours in an academic year. •Critiqued resumes, cover letters, applications, and other documents. •Conducted mock interviews and coached undergraduates and graduates on job searches. •Provided career counseling for undecided students using MBTI and Strong Interest Inventory. •Served as liaison to engineering Deans, faculty, and staff by collaborating on programming, providing statistical data about students and employer trends, and assisting Deans in creating a new position within the engineering school. •Developed relationships with industry leaders such as Cisco, Guidant, IBM, and Microsoft. •Collaborated with Pratt School of Engineering and Computer Science to host annual event, TechConnect that included a panel discussion and networking reception for employers and students. •Presented workshops involving resume and cover letter writing, internship and job search, interviewing skills, and career fair preparation. •Selected as judge for the Egg Factory (corporate think tank located in Roanoke, VA) representing Duke University to review business plans and evaluate student presentations. •Served on selection committee for Griffith Service Award (leadership and community service award). •Surveyed program trends by providing statistical reporting, data analysis, and evaluation of programming. •Benchmarked approximately 10 university engineering programs such as MIT, Stanford, and Brown.
