Triplefin ExpeditionsCo-Founder and Director
Mar. 2018The Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California)With my Co-founder, I started a small business with a nonprofit arm to work with highly variable stakeholders in and around the Sea of Cortez on marine and land-based conservation efforts. Our research vessel, s/v Triplefin, is one of the first all-electric boats of her kind in the world, and is capable of harnessing solar power to propel herself around the world without fossil fuels. More importantly, Triplefin serves as a platform for scientists, community members, and artists to conduct field studies on the flora, fauna, and people in marine and coastal regions of the Gulf of California. I spearheaded efforts to collect eDNA on Triplefin to determine the presence of protected species to further wise resource use. I am a photographer, videographer and writer, and work with content creators to produce works highlighting the natural world and humanity's interface with it.

Programmatic roles included: -Lead Scientist for field programs in Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Vietnam, and the Caribbean -Lead photographer and videographer -Supervisor of data entry and analysis -Study author -Curriculum development co-administrator -Lead press liaison -Outreach presenter (over 50 presentations performed) Administrative roles included: -Organizational creation -Marketing and communications -Leader of the Board of Directors -Accounting and reporting -Website and social media author and supervisor -Fundraising and grant management During my tenure, The Biodiversity Group discovered and rediscovered several species, and collected data that contributed to the preservation of thousands of hectares of rainforest. I worked with hundreds of community members, students, and volunteers from around the world.
