Mamosebetsi Sethathi is a South African traditional medicine consultant, psychedelic researcher, and mental health and spirituality advisor whose work sits at the intersection of Indigenous healing, mental health equity, and the emerging field of psychedelic science. As an incoming MSc student in Psychedelics at the University of Exeter, she brings a grounded and deeply contextual lens to the study and practice of consciousness transformation and therapeutic innovation. Her background in Development Studies and International Politics has shaped a critical, justice-oriented approach to mental health, rooted in African realities. With hands-on experience as a traditional health practitioner affiliated with the University of Pretoria, Mamosebetsi serves as a bridge between ancestral knowledge systems and contemporary psychiatric discourse, challenging Western dominance in therapeutic models while advocating for respectful integration of Indigenous modalities. She currently supports anthropological research on psychedelics as a research assistant and consults on mental health and spirituality, with training in first aid mental health and a foundation in psychedelic-assisted healing. Her work actively explores the decolonisation of psychedelic medicine, with a particular interest in ethics, integration coaching, and the re-centering of African wisdom traditions in global mental health conversations. Passionate about reclaiming Indigenous narratives, Mamosebetsi also co-produces documentary and storytelling projects that amplify African voices in the psychedelic renaissance. She is committed to ensuring that healing is not only accessible but culturally relevant, rooted in reverence, and safeguarded against the extractive dynamics that too often define cross-cultural exchange. With lived experience and academic insight, she brings integrity, compassion, and cultural fluency to every space she enters — and is emerging as a vital voice in shaping a more just and inclusive future for mental health and psychedelic care
