Oversaw the recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, evaluation, discipline, and professional development of 5,000 staff members. Created inclusion and equity programs/practices and ensured compliance with State and Federal Laws and Regulations. - Created a program to identify and train potential administrators and managers to ensure a pipeline of qualified leaders. Program resulted in the promotion of 10 highly qualified and prepared principals over a period of 2 years. - Planned, implemented, and delivered professional development programs such as a “Teacher Leader Academy” for certificated employees and “Marketing You Job Skills Academy” for classified employees . - Negotiated additional workdays to provide differentiated professional development where staff selected training from a menu of courses focused on organizational goals.. - Implemented a new, transparent hiring process focused on anti-discrimination and EEOC complaint practices including a job announcement template, paper/phone screening scoring system, interview ranking procedure, and recommendation/reference rubric. -Initiated and oversaw the transition to a paperless, on-line system for HR documents to reduce staff workload, save time, and reduce paperwork processing errors. - Established a partnership with San Diego State University for former district students who obtained teaching credentials in mathematics, science, and special education to have guaranteed employment with the district upon graduation. This initiative supported efforts to recruit and hire teachers with diversity and with life experiences that were similar to the students served by the district.
