Jul. 2010 - Aug. 2013Saskatchewan, CanadaProvide safety expertise and support by leading the identification of health and safety risks and controls to eliminate or mitigate these risks. Recommend, develop, facilitate and oversee the implementation of safety programs to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, rules and regulations.Provide direction, guidance and training to safety coordinators who are not fully qualified on safety related roles and responsibilities, as outlined below.Facilitate the implementation, administration, and review of corporate safety programs and monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, rules and regulations.Monitor safety indicators in order to understand and anticipate site-specific business drivers and influence, and facilitate and participate in the development and implementation of local safety plans, goals, and objectives Lead consultation, facilitate reviews, assist and/or conduct work observation, workplace inspection, risk assessment, hazard analysis, job planning and accident/incident investigations.Monitor compliance with applicable safety practices, conduct safety audits, coordinate audit recommendations, and assist in the development of corrective action plans in consultation with local management Provide support to local management, staff and Occupational Health and Safety Committees in the interpretation, communication and application of safety rules, regulations and legislation.Facilitate and/or participate in safety meetings with employees and contractor staff.Coordinate, monitor and participate in the analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of safety related training.Provide advice and counsel during the purchase of new equipment and construction of new facilities to ensure adherence to applicable safety standards.Participate in: the development of safety performance measures, interpret results and coach/influence local staff on how to improve safety performance, the evaluation of contractor qualifications, continuous education.
