I have been running Pakistan’s first alternate school since 2014, based in Islamabad. Over the past decade, I’ve led every facet of the institution — from administration, legal affairs, and employee management to curriculum design, parent engagement, and long-term strategy. It’s a role that demands vision, resilience, and the ability to build systems from the ground up — and I’ve loved every step of it. My academic background is in Psychology (BSc Hons, Queen Mary University of London), and I hold a Master’s in Education and Technology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Through this journey, I’ve remained committed to progressive, child-led learning — rooted deeply in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which I explored firsthand while working with schools in Italy. I’m also affiliated with Reggio Children, Italy, and continue to collaborate with consultants across Italy and the UK, including Mr. Robin Duckett (Reggio Children). One of the most meaningful moments in my journey was receiving consultation from Professor Howard Gardner — the renowned scholar behind the theory of Multiple Intelligences — through my Harvard network. He personally recognized our school as one of the most progressive educational models in South Asia and beyond, which remains one of our greatest honors. This work has sharpened my expertise in education, and navigating the legal and social complexities of running a school in Pakistan. But more than anything, it’s taught me to trust in the limitless potential of children — and the transformative power of education done right.
