May. 2022Alpharetta, Georgia, United StatesPart of an Operations team that provides monitoring and support for Linux and Solaris based systems, and our applications that run on them. The systems we support are hosted using Azure, with some baremetal systems that are due to be migrated still in operation. The team works remotely and covers not only normal business hours, but also late nights and weekends in an on-call rotation.
Senior Technical Systems Analyst
EquifaxSenior Technical Systems Analyst
Jan. 2018 - Jan. 2021Alpharetta, Georgia, United StatesWorking as a Senior Technical Analyst in the Infrastructure As A Service (IAAS) organization with the NixSA team who maintained 10,000 Linux based systems. The systems were built using a mixture of SUSE 11 & 12, CentOS 6 & 7, and Red Hat (RHEL) 5, 6, and 7. Brought in to help build out their patch management infrastructure, define vulnerability remediation methods, and develop standard processes to minimize the risks to critical systems. This included structuring those systems into operational lifecycles, creating patch groups based on those lifecycles, and coordinating patching operations for our offshore teams. Patch management and patch group creation was done using Suse Manager and two different installations of Katello, for CentOS and RHEL systems. Managed the patch management systems to ensure they were synced with the OS vendors to provide the latest patches as they were available. Systems are scanned weekly using Rapid7, and detailed reports provided to the application owners showing needed patches, or vulnerabilities that required system/application configuration changes. Analyzed these reports to assist the application owners in keeping with SLAs for vulnerability remediation, and to determine what required patching alone, and what required configuration changes as well. Worked with external audit firms, or government entities, to validate adherence to patch standards, and to make sure that processes were fully documented as directed by Senior Leadership.
Senior System Engineer
LexisNexis Risk SolutionsSenior System Engineer
Jul. 2001 - Jan. 2018Alpharetta, Georgia, United StatesSenior team lead in a fast-paced Operations environment supporting multiple large clusters and running HPCC Systems software on CentOS systems. These clusters serve up data to our largest customers and are responsible for over 60% of the company’s over $1 billion revenue stream. As the Senior System Engineer, I have been responsible for maintaining a 99.999% uptime, designing and enforcing our DR synchronization process and schedule, working with architects and developers to design new solutions, and cross-training junior team members to ensure support levels are maintained both to our internal and external customers. Before joining the HPCC Ops team, worked on a team called ETech who were responsible for configuring and maintaining all of the corporate Apache web servers, Java app servers, F5 load balancers, and architecting new installations. This included coordinating with the Network Ops and Firewall teams to provide all required infrastructure components, working with business units to confirm successful implementation, and handling any issues that customers experience in accessing the products. Ran the weekly change control meeting to ensure all required tasks were scheduled and that required management approvals were received before implementation.

Manheim Auto AuctionsNetwork Administrator
Sep. 1997 - Jul. 2001Atlanta, Georgia, United StatesOperated as Systems/Network Administrator in the Network Operations Center, supporting a local user community and users/systems at 93 remote auctions. In this role I purchased, built, and configured software on all Windows NT/2000 Servers that served up network data shares, supplied DHCP and DNS to remote sites, authentication, and ran applications necessary to operate the auto auctions we owned. Migrated the office from an older HP corporate email system to Microsoft Exchange, enabling us to grow from 1750 email enabled users to supporting a user community of over 15000 Exchange users, and over 1000 that used Lotus Notes running on AS/400s. Functioned as the backup Network Administrator which included configuring and supporting Cisco routers and switches, and configuring and maintaining our Cisco Pix firewalls as needed. Also provided support and configuration assistance to the midrange support groups which included troubleshooting and configuring AS/400 systems both locally at the main office and at each of our remote sites.
