Jan. 2014 - Jan. 2017Wapato DPA LaboratoryQC Lab: Participating in the QC Lab meant becoming familiar with lab processes, memorizing various analytes as pertaining to each fruit type while also training in proper handling of hazardous chemicals and lab safety. I personally processed samples for a variety tests as instructed and overseen by QC lab heads and marked fruit for re-testing due to out-of-range ppm results. Discernment was a key factor of being part of a successful lab environment. During harvest season I directed daily morning calls with field technicians to ensure that the final data was correct, accurate, and remained confidential between many competing fruit packing plants. I worked with the lab to meet ISO accreditation standards when renewal time arrived. I filled lull moments by working with an off-site team to improve reporting functions of an outdated proprietary reporting system in order to streamline and expedite results. I also created SOPs for monthly, weekly, daily and hourly reporting in order to better train temporary staff during peak times. Production: Assisted department heads in creating SOPs for crucial manufacturing phases including but not limited to proper PPE for each stage, ingredients needed, and exact stages for time-sensitive products with ‘lock out tag out’ procedures for each blend. Regulatory: Worked on the MSDS to SDS transition with the regulatory team including verbiage, label accuracy, and used Statements of Formula to discern proper PPE for each product by using Excel to calculate ppm levels for every individual ingredient. The SDS transition met GHS standards on the timeline set by Washington State and the UN partly because of my participation in the project. I also re-organized the filing system to reflect parameters set out by the Regulatory department with documents that had been in storage since the company’s inception. I did this all with minimal supervision to the satisfaction of the regulatory team and their rigorous SOPs
