My teaching spans core areas of the craft—including newswriting, data journalism, media entrepreneurship, audio storytelling, and political journalism—giving students both the foundational skills and forward-looking perspective they need in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Guiding students as they find their journalistic voice—whether in print, digital or audio platforms—has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. In addition to teaching, I served as the faculty advisor to the award-winning Mercer Cluster student newspaper. While I wasn't involved in day-to-day editorial decision making, the role did require ongoing management training and coaching with the student leadership. Our team launched Atlanta's first news/talk public radio station (88.5 WRAS) in 2014 and built three local talk shows from the ground up.
