Mercer UniversityAssistant Professor of Practice and Journalist in Residence
Aug. 2021 - May. 2025Macon, Georgia, United StatesI've had the privilege of preparing the next generation of journalists to think critically, report deeply, and tell stories that matter. My teaching spans core areas of the craft—including newswriting, data journalism, media entrepreneurship, audio storytelling, and political journalism—giving students both the foundational skills and forward-looking perspective they need in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Guiding students as they find their journalistic voice—whether in print, digital or audio platforms—has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. In addition to teaching, I served as the faculty advisor to the award-winning Mercer Cluster student newspaper. While I wasn't involved in day-to-day editorial decision making, the role did require ongoing management training and coaching with the student leadership. As journalist-in-residence, I also reported audio and digital stories for Macon-Newsroom.com, The (Macon) Telegraph, Georgia Public Broadcasting and other local and national publications.
