Everyone, from students to teachers, from the administrators to the lunch ladies, welcomed me with open arms and made me feel like a part of the community. I was able to develop very impactful relationships with students and staff, alike. Every challenge that I faced, as well as those that the rest of the school community faced, led to growth, and I left Kearny feeling very inspired and grateful.

The Coordinator position now allows me to focus on improving the program as a whole. This includes building systems for tracking caller performance, creating training resources, and thinking critically about how the program can be more efficient and successful.

This included multi-week overnight youth camps, professionalisms development seminars, and the Pierce County Cancer Survivorship Conference. I coordinated with departments across the university's campus to ensure timely setup and teardown of events. When problems arose, I spared no effort to solve them as quickly as possible. Working closely with program organizers who were often under a lot of pressure, I developed a keen sense of emotional intelligence and empathy in the role. Additionally, I developed the skills necessary to communicate with people of all backgrounds and ages.
