SkechersVisual Merchandising Coordinator
Jul. 2013 - Jun. 2015Manhattan Beach, CAAfter college I sought a creative role with no “relevant” corporate experience. Curiosity, creativity and problem-solving got my "foot in the door". How? I changed the traditional window display setup without approvals one day, caused a debate, then explained why there was value in change backed by sales, the rest is history. I learned the ropes of merging the creative, marketing, and ops depts to bring a vision to life and of course, make our stores gorgeous for all store types. We had several hundred locations and a vast INTL expansion. In this role, I presented my vision beyond our traditional setup and was empowered to add innovation to meet the demands of an exponentially growing store count. The VM function ties into several functions which enabled me to learn about Footwear + Apparel Merchandising, Buying, Allocations, Marketing, Store Ops and how it ties altogether. It was exciting and also a challenge to green light a creative vision in the making. This role was insightful with the extensive data analysis, understanding store needs thru Executive perspective, and a prompter to help you think outside the box to refresh and stay ahead of the competition! Potential Career Routes: VM, MKTG, Operations, Merchandising • Created window and wall flow direction for all store types which entailed acquiring and arranging samples, photographing, CS6 photoshop editing, written direction, and compilation of the final memo on InDesign.
