Sep. 2014 - Apr. 2015Bloomfield Hills High School• Taught three sections of a Writing through American Literature 10th – 11th grade course • Developed and implemented four units of study – Modernism Poetry and Short Stories, Harlem Renaissance, The Great Gatsby, Death of a Salesman, and A Raisin in the Sun • Taught two sections of a 12th grade Modern Literature course • Developed and implemented units for two contemporary pieces of literature – The Kite Runner and Into the Wild • Successfully incorporated technology into teaching practices both in the classroom and in student communication • Coordinated and planned a field trip for 130 students to visit the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History enhancing their unit study of the Harlem Renaissance • Implemented assessments aligned to International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme criteria • Participated in learning community meetings with teachers, counselors, and administrators in all core subject areas to foster collaboration and discuss student support services • Advised students in the completion of the Middle Years Programme personal project • Initiated Project Based Learning opportunities for students to explore real-world problems and challenges in order to acquire a deeper knowledge of the unit’s essential questions • Advised Student Leadership class – participated and attended all events and activities (i.e. Homecoming, Spirit Week, Sadies Dance, Community Service outreach)
