Jan. 2000 - Jan. 2008Institute, WVGrants and Contracts Specialist Duties include:the creation of a one-person grant office for the Gus R. Douglass Land-Grant Institute and later management of the Sponsored Programs Office campus wide. Responsible for pre-award and post-award activities for outreach, research and teaching projects, including development of routing and approval process, maintenance of a funding database, and training faculty and staff on grant preparation, budget development, management and evaluation. Responsible for the administration of over $10,000,000 in grant funding annually from sources such as USDA, HUD, Department of Education, NASA, NSF, grants through the State of West Virginia as well as, various foundations and corporations. Family Development Extension Specialist Duties included staff supervision and development of programs to meet the needs of families in the Kanawha Valley. Developed curriculum for community based family education, delivered programming and evaluated outcomes. Responsible for the development of transitional housing programs on campus for students aging out of foster care, Internet safety education programming, parenting education workshops, and adolescent pregnancy prevention. As a Historically Black College, many of these programs were developed to reach out into the minority communities developing partnerships with low income housing agencies, African American Churches and neighborhood centers. While in this position I was actively involved in grant writing to develop and maintain programs securing over $800,000 in grants and donations in fiscal years 2000-2002.
