Mar. 2019With 20 years of practitioner knowledge and experience in facilitating adult learning courses, I believe in empowering educators by engaging them in pedagogical reasoning. As a consultant and coach, I have been developing educators in designing and reviewing curriculum and in English Language pedagogy; I also run courses on Effective Communications for industries. Fluent in Effective Communication skills, Assessment for Learning, Differentiated Instruction and Quality Questioning to ensure all learners know where they are, where to go to and how to get there. Excellent in written and oral communication and facilitation skills for adult learning. ‘I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.’ Maya Angelou. This statement forms the basis of my philosophy of teaching and the only way to live out this philosophy is to empower adult learners to know where they, where they need to go to and how to get there. In order to ensure this, I believe in guiding learners to become independent thinkers who are critical and introspective. Hence, I facilitate Professional Learning by throwing out problems, by allowing people to discover, experience and by giving value to everyone’s voice and thoughts. This way we co-construct as we learn together, as we all are practitioners who have something to offer. In this way, learners will know how to do better, be better. And to be better, one has to empathise. I empathise as I have been an educator for 18 years and I know that each learner is different. Hence, at the end of the day, it is in the relationships I form as a facilitator and consultant that makes me effective as I am a lifelong learner myself who grow with others.
