Jan. 1988 - Dec. 2004P.S. 173 Manhattan• Implemented and supervised a Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program for Platform Learning, Inc. as an afterschool tutorial program. Recruited, hired, and trained teachers, provided operational supervision, managed materials and budget, and analyzed data to determine the effectiveness of program. • Provided highly effective instruction in grades K-5, in all subject areas. Used diverse teaching methods, ranging from teacher-centered activities to learning centers. Utilized ESL strategies with English Language Learners. Used data from assessments to drive and individualize instruction.
• As a library and media specialist (1999-2004), taught a comprehensive library skills curriculum to grades Kindergarten-5. Worked collaboratively with staff to support standards curriculum. Maintained accurate fiscal records and ordered books, media, and other materials for the library. • Served as Science Lead Teacher from 1990-1999, providing guidance through the science restructuring program in District 6, in collaboration with City College and the National Science Foundation, including turnkey training and support for teachers.
• Collaborated with administrators and colleagues in District 6’s Summer Planning Institute from 1992-1997, to develop and enhance existing school curriculum, particularly in the areas of science and literacy. • Provided professional development to colleagues in the areas of hands-on mathematics and science inquiry.
