• Create projects and classroom assignments designed to stimulate various types of learning utilizing Gardner’s Theory of Learning, Bloom’s Taxonomy, & current educational research queries and results
• Employ strategies for writing gained from active participation in AP English/College Board professional development, website resources, and sharing with AP teachers
• Collaborate with the sophomore team to create lesson plans that capture the various learning styles of the regular and special needs students • Utilize data from standardized tests to improve my student’s test scores on ACT/PSAE
• Support students in various academic and personal intervention strategies to ensure success in school and their post-secondary goals
School Leadership
• Teacher Fellow for the 2011 and 2012 Chicago Area Writing Project Summer Institute
• As a member of the ILT develop consistent school wide standards and objectives that impacts student learning through the process of evaluating curriculum, teaching strategies, and critical-thinking skills to improve word knowledge and comprehension
• As the English Dept. Chair (’04-’10) facilitated and lead Department meetings, managed the yearly book order, participated in teacher observations, and maintained daily tasks
• Wrote and revised the American Literature curriculum based on the ILS, CRS, and the Common Core Standards, the AP English Literature & AP English Language based on the College Board’s expectations, and evaluated all grade levels for academic rigor
• Part of the implementation team for the Transformation Program granted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (’05 – ’10)
• Created a curriculum for Speech focused on theory and public speaking skills
• Trained and mentored new teachers as part of the Golden Teachers Mentor Program
Extra-Curricular Activities
• Current pom-pom coach- performances at football, basketball, and dance competitions
• Produced the school’s senior spring play
