The position called for someone to provide art direction for photography of seasonal promotions and to be solely responsible for the graphic design of all printed collateral pieces pertaining to fragrance, makeup and skin care. All projects shared the goals of supporting national advertising directives from France, U.S. marketing and national in-store / special makeup events. Remaining well versed in file pre-press, mechanical creation and production was a must and a skill I feel most designers lack. While reporting to a creative director, autonomous art direction was necessary as well as being able to manage, host and maintain a weekly inter-department meeting regarding the creative job calendar.

With a print design background, this position pushed me to learn a wide-variety of hard materials and sharpened my aesthetic presentation skills while being able to lead an overall branding effort. I created and maintained a national directive on how department and specialty store beauty counters should present our brand and provided the display and printed materials asked of them. Visiting members from our French office recognized this directive in their worldwide market and created a similar educational tool. Selecting and maintaining visual rights and photography guidelines of brand imagery in these respective store environments was part of the position, as well as, creating scale drawings for the entire product line in Illustrator which was used in a schematic database. While at Dior, I was part of a group structural re-design of our brand within Sephora.

It was an honor just to be there. My responsibilities included assisting Michael Gericke's team. His team's work encompasses a wide variety of assignments and media, including identities, environmental graphics, exhibitions and communications design for a broad range of international clients, institutions, public agencies and cultural organizations. Extensive retouching and comp production for client meetings was among one of the most important roles, as well as, preparation of final mechanical files for print production.
