Nupik is a Spanish registered company and Flo is an Italian registered company. Both came together nearly 30 years ago to fulfil market opportunities in the UK under one company. Production currently stands at over 20 billion plastic products per year for Europe. My role is as a Sales and Marketing Manager with responsibility covering the whole of the UK, but specifically sales in Southern half of the UK (Midlands downwards). In a fiercely competitive market there is a demand on maintaining existing business whilst looking for growth. Whilst year on year growth isn’t always achievable Nupik-Flo year on year achieves in excess of £9 million of turnover a year. Throughout my time with Nupik-Flo I’ve been involved with and solely responsible for the acquisition of key contracts, in particular vending buying groups (e.g. www.covergroup.com) and supply of many millions of catering disposables for key events including the London Olympics. Key responsibilities include: • Day to day contact with customer-base within the area and also key vending operators throughout the UK - Lead generation and follow up including cold calling where necessary as well as development of existing customers business by introducing new and existing products from the Nupik-Flo ranges and a few that weren’t. - Contract negotiation from beginning to implementation with buying groups and larger key businesses. - Trouble shooting within the vending side of the business. Vending is reliant upon consistent products day in day out. If a problem arose it was fundamental it was dealt with quickly and efficiently. - Development and maintenance of the Nupik-Flo UK website plus associated micro-sites as well as marketing creative production, implementation and future planning

The decision had been taken in 2003 to re-launch Used Car Buyer with a revised editorial team and a glossy new lifestyle feel. It was a light-hearted but educated look at what was available to the used car buyer. Following the principle of “most metal for your money” the publication endeavoured to cater to the needs of all markets and make suggestions of what to buy, be it a cut price super car or a Routemaster bus. With the new look and feel and increased promotional activity, including television advertising, it recorded significantly increased sales. The decision was taken by the owners to sell the product to a publishing house more suited to the market and with existing automotive titles in its portfolio. The editorial team were made redundant and all but one member went to work on alternative projects. Key responsibilities Included: • Planning for future articles and features • Test driving or researching vehicles and writing an appropriate lifestyle orientated review • Development of a 10 year price guide with ‘Wise Buyers Guides’ • Sourcing and interviewing celebrities and members of the public. Interviewees included Martin Brundle, Alex Zanardi, Gail Porter, Tiff Needell, Jason Plato and Tony Jardine • Proof reading and copy sub-editing • Responsibility for updating and maintaining the features at the back of the magazine. These included guides on buying used vehicle, recommended manufacturer used approved plans and our ‘Top 100’ used cars • Attending photo-shoots and researching and selection of relevant images for features • Sourcing and selection of accessories to feature in the magazine • General administration duties
