Jun. 2014Midland, PAAdminister supervision of 14 Special Education Academic Advisors with caseloads varying 180-220 students spanning grades K-12: o Provide training, support and guidance to Advisors for assigned students including orientations, course registration, academic monitoring, documentation of curriculum exceptions, and graduation requirements/progress. o Monitor Academic Advisor communication frequency, scheduling accuracy, withdrawal accuracy, and retention trends etc. on a weekly basis. o Offer feedback and recommendations to the Director of Academic Advisors on the performance of all direct reports. • Review, assign and distribute newly enrolled students to Academic Advisors and ensure they are meeting new student induction period deadlines which is phone contact within 24 hours of assignment. • Responsible for addressing, resolving and documenting various parent/student concerns. • Partner with the Special Education Department on day-to-day processes including curriculum changes and accommodations, new Special Education program offerings, 504 student assignment, special projects, course registrations, and more; work collaboratively to ensure students’ needs are met and to identify opportunities for improvement and additional support. • Conceptualize, organize and execute departmental initiatives in collaboration with administrative team, such as: family outreach, new student orientations, state assessment remediation/preparation, state assessment scheduling, and gathering student/parent survey and corresponding focus groups throughout the state throughout a 15-month duration. • Liaise with 2400 students and parents from all Academic Advisor rosters, to address a range of issues such as truancy, SAP cases, course pacing, residency changes, communication with teachers, academic referrals, and more; demonstrate care and understanding in all interactions, and work to create viable and effective solutions for students.
