will bankStaff Software Engineer
Mar. 2023Will Bank is a Brazilian digital bank with the mission of bankarize people with critical financial conditions. It is also a bank that states that credit-access has to be a human right. I'm a Staff Software Engineer and started my journey at the company by developing a sales management system so entrepreneurs could keep track of customers' orders. This app module replaced their manual written notes behavior and helped them solve the feeling of embarrassment while charging frequent customers. In order to tackle the need of a mechanism to charge installment payments, we developed from scratch a Flutter web application page dedicated to allow external users complete their purchases through a payment link. Given the success of this feature, we developed and launched a complete ecosystem called Will Pay which is composed of Will Tap and Will Link solutions. The former, is a mobile POS system with NFC technology to enable customer payments by approximation, while the latter is our previous payment link experience. Nowadays, I'm currently focused on leading the initiative of recovering debts from defaulting customers by creating a brand new renegotiation hub within the mobile application. After shipping the functionality, we're planning to expand its scope to the web platform as well.

I belonged to the Support team which used to build technical solutions to enhance our client experience. Since my arrival, we've built tools such as Help Center, Answer Bot and a complete ticket management system. We also used Clean Architecture and integrated native SDK's with Flutter.
We've built from scratch a dedicated system for the Assistance team that ran as a Flutter web application and also supports both Android and iOS. This system connects to an external broker that supplies crucial information about the motorbike and help their team diagnose hardware and software issues.
I'm very proud about our progress and glad to see that my teammates evolved very fast. I lead a team of 6 people, which was composed of people in different levels of seniority, from mobile to backend developers, designer and product manager. I used to report our progress straight to the CTO and to the company periodically through our ceremonies.

It is an insurtech app that uses telemetry to measure and evaluate driver's risk during a road trip. This way, we are able to offer a fairer price to drivers that have good behavior behind the steering wheel and incentivize those who don't by offering them the necessary support to improve their driving skills. I've brought to the company the idea of building the product from scratch using Flutter. This required a lot of integrations with native SDK's that weren't ready for the framework yet. Fortunately, we were able to tackle them by setting up the proper channels to communicate with the native side and successfully publish both Android and iOS apps to the stores. On the technical side, the project is already working with null-safety and we are using Bloc and Cubit to have control over the different states of our UI. We are using the MVVM pattern and some Firebase resources such as Remote Config, A/B Testing, Performance and Crashlytics along with some analytics tools such as Amplitude, Segment and Customer.io. Lastly, we've written some unit and widget tests and we're relying on some packages such as Mockito in order to mock API requests.
