Delivered customized interventions to enhance independence and safety in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), including: Diabetic management and financial management. Compensatory strategies for self-care and medication management. Safety and environmental modifications. Sighted guide training. Client and caregiver education on assistive technology to support participation in leisure activities (e.g., reading, writing, games). Functional communication strategies. Gained additional insight through observation at the Duke Eye Center and collaboration with low vision occupational therapists across North Carolina. Attended the 2017 North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association (NCOTA) conference, participating in specialized breakout sessions on low vision rehabilitation. Arts Accessibility Workshop Researched, developed, and led a presentation and hands-on workshop focused on arts accessibility for individuals with low vision. Collaborated with docents at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC, integrating their expertise into the workshop. The presentation featured strategies for making art more accessible and included an embedded video showcasing these efforts.
