Aug. 2016New York, NYHi, I’m Lora Jackson—your Process Nerd 🤓. I help founders of service-based businesses reclaim their time by simplifying operations, building self-managed teams, and creating businesses that run smoothly—without them being in the weeds every day. You started your business for freedom, but now you’re overwhelmed with the day-to-day grind. Instead of growing, you're constantly putting out fires. That’s where I come in. I help you cut through the chaos and put the right structures in place so your business can thrive—without sucking up all your time. Here’s how: - Smoother Operations – Refined service and delivery so you can serve more clients/customers without burning out. - A Self-Managed Team – Hire and onboard top performers who take ownership, so you don’t have to micromanage. - A Business That Runs Without You – A team and culture that keeps things moving smoothly, so you can focus on growth, not operations. The outcome? More free time. More time for scaling your business, focusing on bigger opportunities, and actually enjoying the life you built this business for. ______ WHO I WORK WITH: I partner with founders who: - Are overwhelmed trying to juggle growth and daily operations. - Want more freedom but feel like their business owns them. - Are tired of micromanaging and need a team that just gets things done. - Know they need structure but don’t want to waste time figuring it out alone. Industries I Specialize In: 📦 Moving & storage 🛠️ Home remodeling & real estate 📈 Digital marketing & e-commerce ⚖️ Law firms & financial services 🎓 Private schools, franchise businesses, consultants ______ A little about me: - Motto: Simplify to grow. - Favorite tools: Notion, Trainual 🤓 - Music: Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar 🎧 - Best fit: Action-takers who want real results, not busywork. ______ Ready to free up your time and scale? Assistant to MD State Senator
Maryland State Senate Assistant to MD State Senator
Sep. 2011 - Dec. 2011Washington DCAs the Assistant to a State Senator from the 21st District of Maryland, I managed a senator's heavy daily schedule to ensure smooth meetings, fundraisers and events. The key outcome of working in a high-pressure role like this was to ensure the Senator was always at the right place at the right time with the right resources. This was where organization and systems were key in achieving this goal daily. I scheduled and coordinated hundreds of meetings and phone calls with representatives of the MD State and US Senate, House of Representatives, and the White House. I oversaw domestic and international travel while working with the Chief of Staff on financial and legislative operations. Government entities are not the most efficient but this was an excellent opportunity for me to change that in my specific role supporting a State Senator. While I loved the high-pressure and exciting experiences, I knew I could use these operational skills to benefit the private sector. So I did with my next professional adventure.
Innovation Institute Scholar (Summer Program)
ThinkImpactInnovation Institute Scholar (Summer Program)
Jun. 2011 - Aug. 2011Coastal KenyaThinkImpact brings students and community members together to innovate in developing countries by working with real enterprises to tackle problems on the ground. This was my first entrepreneurial experience. It helped me tremendously, as I learned a lot about the importance of humility, local culture, context and dynamics in collaborating with people from different countries. I successfully applied these first lessons later on when I started managing remote global teams at StartingBloc and Roam. This was my first experience recruiting entrepreneurial individuals and facilitating teams. I’ve learned very quickly how to identify people with potential. I discovered the risks of misaligned team goals in keeping your team together. This was my crash course in recruiting and facilitating a team on the ground while learning the importance of cultural nuances in a foreign country.
Program Assistant
International START SecretariatProgram Assistant
Feb. 2010 - Apr. 2011Washington, DCSTART enhances scientific capacity in developing countries to inspire informed action on global environmental change. This was my first job after university. With my academic background in International Affairs, I wanted my work to make a difference in solving global challenges. As the only non-scientist in the organization, I used my organizational skills to coordinate my first international event - I helped plan an international Conference on Education, Capacity Building, and Climate Change in Tanzania, funded by the Open Society Institute. I oversaw international travel while coordinating logistics with over 120 forum participants from multiple countries in Africa and Europe. While my work contributed to bringing international scientists together to work on global environmental change, I wanted to have a bigger impact and try to solve global challenges in ways different from foreign aid work. This was how I jumped into the world of entrepreneurship.
