Dec. 2013 - Jul. 2019Senior level human resources professional/generalist providing a strong focus on state employee benefits, leave plans, and hiring guidelies. Main areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, administering benefit and leave programs for all Salem State University state employees; ensuring continued compliance with the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA); implementing the faculty hiring process on an annual basis. Provides full individual employee benefit orientation for all new employees (faculty and staff members):
1. Tax and Payroll Documents
2. University Policies and Procedures
3. Welfare Benefits (health, life, LTD, flexible benefit spending accounts) and Retirement Benefits (MSERS verses ORP) / Tax shelter Annuity Plans (457(b) verses 403(b) and University discounts
• Discusses benefit packages and enrollments specific to an employees union designation
• Provides partial individual new employee orientation for all non-faculty and discusses Welfare Benefits (health, life, LTD, flexible benefit spending accounts) and Retirement Benefits / Tax shelter Annuity Plans and University discounts
• Accurately enters new faculty member data into the Commonwealth Payroll System
• Presents information at monthly new employee orientation sessions
University Benefits Liaison to the Group Insurance Commission (GIC) • Communicates regularly with the GIC and administers GIC programs (health, life and LTD), flexible spending accounts on campus. Communicates GIC changes to employees on benefits
• Collects documents and enrolls new employee data into the Commonwealth of Massachusetts GIC “Magic” application
• Assists employees with the resolution of benefit plan problems
• Coordinates periodic fairs and presentations to educate employees about insurance plans such as long term care, AFLAC, etc.
• Ensures compliance with benefits regulations
