Jan. 2012 - Jan. 2014Olympia, WACommunications & Legal Division Evaluate all assigned administrative cases to determine whether administrative action is warranted, including reviewing case reports to determine sufficiency of the evidence; When the Public Information Officer is out of the office for more than two days, may respond to e-mails received over the agency website; Prepares administrative charges to be issued on behalf of the Director; Prepares Default Orders, Orders of Dismissal, Settlement Orders, and Commission memos; Evaluate assigned Administrative Charges issued to determine whether settlement can be achieved using terms consistent with similarly settled prior cases and the agency’s goals; Negotiates settlements with licensees and counsel; Responsible for all aspects of all assigned cases, including necessary follow up, communication with Special Agents and licensees, and preparing cases for appeals; Coordinates and drafts discovery responses for cases assigned to Staff Attorneys, notifying staff of requests received and compiling the agency's responses for review by the Staff Attorney and the Assistant Attorney General; Monitor the status of all administrative cases processed by the Division, including defaults, appeals and final orders, and ensure deadlines are met; Serves as the backup for the Asset Forfeiture Officer. Process seizure cases when the Asset Forfeiture Officer is unavailable. Under the supervision of a Staff Attorney, take any necessary action on a case, including drafting Orders of Automatic Forfeiture and possibly other orders, and assist Field Agents with seizure questions; and Assist the Legal Secretary, when needed, or in the Legal Secretary’s absence. Oversee some of the Legal Secretary’s work.
