Responsible for all of CPJ's research and advocacy projects in 45 countries classified as sub-Saharan Africa.
Wrote the Africa section of CPJ's annual Attacks on the Press book, a regional overview and summary of the state of the media, on a country by country basis, utilized by the State Department and other organizations.
Handled breaking emergencies such as monitoring conditions for the African media during coups and wartime (Liberia, Sierra Leone and Zaire) UNAM Media Project Director 1996-1997
