OneWorld Sustainable InvestmentsResearch Intern
Jan. 2022 - Jul. 2022Cape Town, Western Cape, South AfricaDuring my time at OneWorld I was a research intern and assisted project managers on the various projects the company was actively involved in. Working with many projects simultaneously required me to be able to adjust quickly to the task at hand.
Daily tasks during my internship included:
- Research and knowledge management
- Report writing and analysis - Data management - Correspondence with associates and stakeholders
- Event organisation including event setup, attendance confirmation and venue coordination.
The role challenged me and allowed me to reach beyond what I thought I was capable of. It taught me the importance of communication and teamwork to ensure the expected outcome is delivered in a timely manner. The projects I worked on were all related to sustainable development through different themes, particularly focusing on climate change, resource valuation, urban resilience and green transitions. Often multiple themes came through in the projects and a nexus was formed among them. Funding for these projects were through international and multinational funding institutions, all requiring their specific formats and approaches to be followed. Working on projects funded by these organisations gave me insight into the structure of them and the beneficial and important work that they are doing to fight climate change and environmental degradation.
