Commanding Officer, Air Cargo Handling Unit
• Recalled in August 2005, serving for 9 months in western Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM; stationed in a forward, expeditionary combat environment, managed a 25-person operation at 2 locations in moving/processing over 4 million pounds of high-priority aviation cargo for the Second and Third Marine Air Wings; received Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal for superior efforts.
• Managed multiple transportation and distribution networks, including first- and last-mile visibility, in-transit cargo tracking, and supply chain management.
Fleet Supply Officer
• Implemented a complete revision of all financial and payroll procedures for more than 850 personnel, a prototype system which became the fleet standard within 6 months; managed an annual payroll of more than $13.5 million, as well as an overall budget of more than $20 million, with zero discrepancies or loss of accountability over a 16-month period. Supervised 14 personnel.
• Managed the overall training of the US Navy’s entry-level logistics personnel, more than 1,200 training annually; oversaw and completed 2 major training course revisions resulting in the automation and modernization of both training programs, reducing overall training time by 25% and saving the command over $5K per class in both instructor and trainee man-hours, and receiving a Navy Commendation Medal for these efforts. Supervised 30 senior technical experts.
