The Whitechapel CentreYoung Person Housing Advice and Homeless Resolution Worker
Jan. 2024 - Dec. 2024Liverpool, England, United KingdomMy role is to assess and advise young people experiencing homelessness in Liverpool. Once I assess them I refer them to suitable accommodation which best suits their needs. I do this via different communication avenues, such as face-to-face appointments, emails, and telephone calls. I also communicate with external agencies to find the best solutions for them, including Housing Options, Leaving Care Team, Asylum Link, and Social Services. From when I started the position to where I am now, I have added extra responsibilities to my role. These include assisting other team members with carrying out assessments if there is a language barrier that I can assist with, as I have learnt new languages to assist with my role. Using my combined skills of support work and communication I help my clients integrate into the community, which can include signposting them to local cultural support networks which can give them a slice of home in their new home of Liverpool. However, throughout my role, I offer support and guidance to all of my service users.
