Johnson ControlsSoftware Engineer
Jul. 2007 - Nov. 2014Cinisello Balsamo, Milan, ItalyI started in Johnson Controls in the System Integration Services Europe (SISE) team, a European team focused on systems integration and custom applications, in which role I developed, or led a development team of external resources, software solutions for data exchange, mainly between third party devices (chillers, air conditioners, security systems, etc.) and Johnson Controls' Metasys building management system. Part of the job was, also, the development of custom solutions, mainly web based, using Microsoft and HTML 5 technology family. Due to my background as a system administrator, systems and database administration is still an important focus part of my job. In November 2014, I moved to Manchester, in the Technology Projects (TP) team, which is, again, a team of system integrators, but focused on the bigger picture, which means a more architectural and organic approach, instead of the resolution of the specific integration with a device problem. SISE and TP are part of the same macro-team (SISE & TP) which mission is to "deliver knowledge and provide innovative solutions to extend and grow business opportunities for our organisation". This definition remarks that our job, also, involves some communication skills, in order to promote our solutions to our internal and end customers. The TP team has been dissolved in 2017, because some of it's members transitioned under the UK&I organisation, so I fell back under the main branch of Systems Integration Services which, in the meanwhile, kept it's EMEALA focus.
