Nov. 2011 - Sep. 2014Scottsdale, AzResponsible for all aspects of design and engineering solutions within GoDaddy’s network infrastructure. This included growth projects as well as troubleshooting of the same for their National and International backbone network, which global reach extends throughout the US west and east coasts, as well as Singapore, the Netherlands, Ireland and others. Upgraded over 1,500 Catalyst switches in their Data Centers to new Nexus 5k2k top of rack solutions. This project saw the upgrade of over 72,000 interfaces without a single outage. I was accountable for all technical aspects of the project, such as proper Nexus/3500 command translations, base and specific server centric configurations for new equipment, L1/L3 diagrams for all migrations work, and coordinating with server’s owners to insure proper maintenance windows, and avoid scheduling conflicts . In the words of my management at the time describing this project, "we have never had an instance in all the years GoDaddy has existed as a company, where a project of this magnitude was done without a single failure, and it is a testament to your engineering abilities and relentless careful planning." I received various WOW awards upon this project's completion. Responsible for all Distribution switches upgrades within GD infrastructure. These consist mostly of 6513s upgraded to 7010 and 7018 Nexus switches. Our Distro switches manage Terabites worth of data daily per our last Statseeker capacity studies, and these upgrades have been designed and implemented to be done with minimal impact during upgrades by putting 7Ks in place and slowly migrating responsibilities away from our Distro switches like layer 2 agg clusters, IGP and VRF routing instances, and only taking maintenance windows when absolutely necessary. Troubleshooting various platforms as ASR9K routers, ACE, F5 and A10 load balancers, ASA Firewall appliances, F5 and A10 load balancers, as well as other equipment/appliances from different vendors.
