Jan. 2015 - Jul. 2017Midlothian, VA- Assist in maxillofacial trauma cases, including fractures, lacerations, and soft tissue repairs. - Prepare and maintain sterile surgical environments for emergency and reconstructive procedures. - Support the administration of general anesthesia, including patient preparation and monitoring. - Monitor and document patient vitals (heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure) during anesthesia and surgery. - Assist with airway management, including intubation support, suctioning, and patient positioning. - Recognize and respond to anesthesia-related emergencies such as respiratory depression, hypotension, and cardiac arrest. - Prepare and manage anesthesia medications, IV fluids, and emergency drug administration under supervision. - Maintain and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment, including ventilators, oxygen tanks, and defibrillators. - Provide post-anesthesia monitoring and support during patient recovery. - Assist in pain management strategies, including local anesthetic blocks and post-operative medication preparation. - Handle and pass surgical instruments efficiently during trauma and reconstructive surgeries. - Provide hemostasis support using suction, gauze packing, and electrocautery techniques. - Prepare bone graft materials, surgical plates, and fixation devices for reconstruction. - Educate patients and families on post-operative anesthesia effects and recovery care. - Ensure compliance with Virginia State Board regulations and ADSA general anesthesia safety protocols.
