I oversaw a department of 6 geography specialists. I improved the overall results in the department through rigorous curriculum and assessment planning, this involved managing large change projects such as an overhaul of the entire curriculum and getting staff members to buy into the curriculum and rationale for change. Working in a team and independently, I oversaw the redevelopment of the curriculum to ensure that outcomes improved within geography. This involved careful curriculum design to ensure that curriculum principles such as spaced repetition, assessment principles and ensuring more knowledge is learnt and remembered. I also oversaw other elements of the Humanities department, such as budgeting, using data to spot trends in underperformance and it ensure the smooth running of the department to allow for stronger outcomes for students.

I manage my own budget to ensure all resources are available for effective teaching and learning within the Geography department. I work closely with the schools deputy head master to provide updates and assurance to the head teacher on the progress of students. I use data and evidence regularly to inform decisions and interventions for students. have developed strategic plans for the department based on the outcomes achieved in the summer examinations. I ensured that the department runs smoothly from day to day. I increased the GCSE examination results by 12% in a year.
