Bastrop ISDTeacher
Aug. 2011 - Jun. 2015Cedar Creek High SchoolI taught Agriculture Science, specifically Animal Science and Veterinary Technology. In four years, I brought the Ag program from an enrollment of 60 to over 250 students, resulting in the need for an additional agriculture teacher, and founded the Cedar Creek FFA Chapter. Since 2011, I applied for, received, and implemented grants for the Agriculture Science program totaling over $56,000. Included in these projects are two grants in the amount of $4,900 for "Drafting Future Careers" AutoCAD in Landscape design, a $25,000 grant for "Living Laboratory" Greenhouse from the Bastrop Education Foundation, two $5,000 grants from Bastrop Education Foundation and National FFA to implement a raised bed garden to provide fresh produce to the local food pantry, $2,000 from National FFA to implement a water recapture grant for our greenhouse, and $5,000 from Lowe's Toolbox for Education to establish an outdoor classroom for use by all classes on the CCHS campus. I served as the CTE Department Chair. In addition to serving as a liaison between the department and administration, I led professional development for all district CTE staff regarding Project Based Learning, classroom management, facilitation of a Career and Technical Student Organization, and facilitated learning walks for my team of 13 teachers.
