Florida Community College at JacksonvilleG.O.L.D. Program Instruction
Mar. 1995 - Jun. 1995As a G.O.L.D. Instructor, I worked with students enrolled in the Golden Opportunities for Lifelong Development Program, essentially, the students were 55 years and older. As in interim program instructor, I taught 55+ students the basics of Windows 3.1, how to use a mouse and keyboard, and beginning lessons in Word Perfect. Of all the training experiences I have had since, this by far was the most rewarding, it really taught me to take in the audience, and prepare the lessons to help them acheive success. By the end of the class the students had a greater understanding of the computer and had much less fear of using it. I asked my students to explain to me why they were there, and the resounding answer was to keep up with their Grandchildren - who could "mouse" about with ease.
