May. 2021 - Dec. 2022St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, CanadaThe Local Area Network (LAN) Administrator will be responsible for the management, monitoring and maintenance of Government’s server, storage, backup and network infrastructure with a particular focus on the VMware virtualization and Storage areas of the Enterprise Services team. The LAN Administrator will be responsible for the installation and configuration of related infrastructure and software in accordance with appropriate growth and capacity requirements for Government’s services. Specifically, this position is responsible to respond to technical issues that impact the delivery of services: regular monitoring and review of network and security logs; performing regular maintenance and patching of network and security hardware; maintaining the documentation required to support our related technologies (processes, procedures, reports, etc.) and supporting day-to-day operations. The LAN Administrator is also responsible to work with peers in the OCIO to ensure effective backup and disaster recovery planning, documentation and testing are in place for the network and security technologies. The LAN Administrator will be required to work closely with the Change Management team to ensure changes are performed within approved guidelines. The LAN Administrator will be required to work directly with Operations & Security, Application and Information Management Services, GNL staff and outside agencies to resolve technical issues and work with Corporate Services & Projects Teams to determine the impacts and plan the delivery of new solutions incorporating existing and new infrastructure. In this role I am supporting enterprise infrastructure relating to virtualization, backup, storage and server utilizing technologies such as VMware virtualization (vSphere), TSM and IBM Spectrum Control backup solutions, and Linux/AIX Server Operating Systems
