This program has since grown into the Department of Integrative Health Programs at NYU Hospital. During my tenure at NYU Langone Medical Center, I provided holistic pre-surgical preparation workshops to over 1,300 patients, in addition to providing extensive staff wellness education and outpatient movement & yoga classes. In addition to my work with in-patients and pre-surgical patients at NYU Hospital, I provided yoga instruction for an IRB-approved research study with breast cancer survivors. Over the past 4 years, I piloted a number of gentle yoga and movement classes for a variety of populations, including those with Parkinson’s disease, Aphasia, Alzheimer’s, and Neurofibromatosis. Delving deeper into important connections between movement and health, I also studied somatic movement therapy with Dr. Martha Eddy, completing an initial training, and am pursuing full registration as a somatic movement educator with the International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association (ISMETA). As an extension of my work in the Department of Integrative Health, I was a guest on Dr. Radio and presented a number of lectures on the therapeutic applications of yoga and given yoga for wellness classes at corporations, including Bank of America, West LB, Cotton Inc, Rockefeller University, & Gensler Inc.
