Jim Johnson for GovernorDesign Intern/Canvass Captain
Mar. 2017 - Jun. 2017Middlesex County, New JerseyWhile I was an intern with Jim Johnson's campaign for Governor of New Jersey, I learned about the structure and prosperity of grassroots campaigns. I was able to actively connect and discuss with voters about key issues while gathering important information that was crucial to further the campaign's success. Beginning as a door-to-door canvasser, I worked closely with my County Organizer and earned the position of Canvass Captain. While working on the campaign, I utilized Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Virtual Phone Bank (VPB), NGP VAN, and web-based design tools to execute, communicate, and share assets as well as record data and track progression. As a Design Intern, I was responsible for designing apparel as well as flyers that informed and attracted voters with bold color and language. I also assisted in developing and writing copy for the aforementioned flyers and apparel. My designs were used across Middlesex County, New Jersey. As a Canvass Captain, I was actively engaged with other volunteers and interns. I trained groups of volunteers in order to prepare them to successfully interact with potential voters. I also organized and analyzed data for Middlesex County and Union County in order to more efficiently assign volunteers to high priority areas.
